Mercardo La Paloma, 3655 S Grand Ave, , Los Angeles, CA 90007

Join us for a weekly session of love and healing through mantra again the backdrop of Jenn Johns' Godspeak album. There is no specific charge for this event. Donations are welcome!

About GODSPEAK: Get ready to be moved and inspired! Jenn Johns, the multi-disciplinary artist, entrepreneur, and critically acclaimed singer-songwriter, has announced the release of her new album, GODSPEAK: Suite 1. This album features seven powerful mantras, carefully crafted with traditional African instruments, contemporary beats, and Jenn’s soulful vocals. The mantras, translated into Swahili, create a unique and mesmerizing sound that is both beautiful and healing.

More than just an album, GODSPEAK: Suite 1 is a meditative tool for the times we are living in. Created during the COVID-19 quarantine, in the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder, Jenn wrote this project because she needed it—especially as a Black woman navigating these trying times. She chose to share it because it has been a blessing to her, and she knows it will be a blessing to people all over the world, particularly those in bodies like hers. With anxiety on the rise due to looming elections, wars, and inflation, Jenn believes now is the perfect moment to release GODSPEAK as a tool to remind us all of our divinity, agency, and power.

Each song on the album features a chakra mantra to which Jenn has added the words “God” and “Love” and translated into Swahili, deepening its spiritual resonance. These tracks, each about seven minutes long and set to a calming yet danceable tempo of 90-93 beats per minute, are designed as a backdrop for vocal expression. Jenn envisions them being used like Kirtan, or in singing circles, inviting people to gather, chant, and move in healing.

GODSPEAK: Suite 1 is available on all major streaming platforms and can also be purchased directly at jennjohns.com and thefunmanifesto.com.
